HEALTH PLANS
Processing of blood clots
Arteriovenous fistula clot occurs for a reason which must be identified and treated (angioplasty balloon or blood vessel repairing) in order to maintain long term functional outcome. Therefore contact a professional vascular surgeon for assistance.
-
Proceed percutaneous thrombectomy or conventional thrombectomy immediately.
-
Use angiography to identify the cause of thrombosis during the surgery.
-
Angioplasty balloon, blood vessel repairing or bypass graft must be given when there is stenosis.
-
Endovascular stent implantation can be used for some patients in order to prevent restenosis or thrombosis
Conventional open surgery is only effective when angiography is taken place during the surgery!
